Tango Project
“A tribute to Argentina’s beloved tango, from the streets of Buenos Aires.”
Enticing. Powerful. Captivating. Guillermo Paolisso pays tribute to his native Argentina’s musical culture, capturing the intimate rhythm, sound and feel of the Río de la Plata region, including tango and its cousins milonga and candombe.
A Beautiful Live Show
Whether solo or with his Tango Trio of two guitars and percussion, Guillermo Paolisso captivates audiences and takes them on a journey to discover the roots of tango, milonga, candombe and other key musical styles from Argentina. Sometimes accompanied by Argentine tango dancers, the show can be adapted for various settings. It is the perfect performance for a private event, theater, music venue, wedding or restaurant/bar.
Tango: A Musical Melting Pot
Tango is the soul of Buenos Aires. A multidimensional art form, tango encompasses music, dance, poetry and a lifestyle. It originated from a mosaic of cultures at the end of the 19th century including European polkas and waltzes, the Cuban Habanera, and African candombe and canyengue. Guillermo Paolisso is bringing back the roots of tango to the US with a modern sound.
Guillermo Paolisso on guitar and Richard Scofano on bandoneón accompany one of the top tango vocalists in the US, Damian Rivero. “Vieja Viola” - filmed and recorded live at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago.
